The general standard is that if physical intervention is needed (justified) then the intervention used should be one that is the least restrictive yet effective. The word “effective” is the key word as an intervention that is not effective does nothing to maintain safety. In fact it can worsen the situation and increase the risk. HWC is an integrated, flexible, customizable program that can be modulated and adapted to the student, patient, client or person being served. At the point where physical intervention becomes necessary, you want a program that works. It is because HWC works and is both least restrictive and effective that our partners experience a 50%+ reduction in injuries, a 50%+ reduction in the number of physical interventions and reduced holding times.
